How to banish a bloated face
With party season here, it’s time to say no to the bloat. These treatments will help placate any puffiness of face
We’ve all woken up after a night out and felt the effects of drinking too much – particularly at this time of year. Whether it’s that horrendous feeling of nausea that refuses to pass or the dreaded bloated face: the immediate aftereffects of late, alcohol-induced nights are as noticeable as they are unpleasant.
Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it dehydrates both inside and out. As a result, the depletion of vital nutrients, electrolytes and fluids leaves skin showing signs of bloating and swelling. The reason? When we’re lacking the things we need to survive, our bodies go into panic mode and store whatever they can get, causing tissue to swell.
Fortunately for us, there are ways to cure hangover face and Alex Johnston, general manager at John Bell & Croyden, is here to help. “Puffy skin can be caused by dehydration and reduction of blood flow in the face. Alcohol can cause your capillaries to constrict, which reduces circulation and leaves your skin looking a little bloated and tired. A facial massage will help get the blood flowing again and this will reduce the symptoms, but getting extra hydration to the skin is also key,” he explains.
